my normal route to and from work gets a lot more difficult during adverse weather, due to a lack of street plowing on the north side.
i’ve been eyeing a set of studded tires for a couple years now, but i can’t bring myself to drop $65+ per tire for a few months of use each season.
i got the idea to create my own tires using a hand riveter and some pop-rivets. i haven’t had the opportunity to ride them yet, but once i get the winter bike built up, i’ll update on how they work out.

steel rivets ( size according to thickness of tire ), washers, scratch awl, and hand riveting tool

they sit flush on the inside wall and won’t require purchasing a tire liner
